Delight or Challenge

Deleted blog post: This is a repost of a deleted post I did a while ago. My favorite movie that was shown in class this last Thursday was “Devotion.” I didn’t get that he was a dog until he went and got the toy for the woman. I love how it was a cute show but made you think. These are the type of films I love!

I love watching a movie and being surprised by a twist that I couldn’t see coming, or figuring it out before the reveal. I just watched Stonehearst Asylum the other night and was surprised by a twist at the end, I had completely shut off my brain so I didn’t really see it coming.

I didn’t realize how much media I consume just for the entertainment value until this lecture. I think there is a time and place for delighting and challenging media. Usually when I watch a movie to relax the last thing I want is to think, but I love a challenging movie or tv show when I am not very tired or if I am doing something else like folding laundry.
