Okay, I was really busy the past week and a half, so I’m
just now getting to talking about music videos. Sorry about that. Anyways, here
are some music videos that I really enjoy.
First up, let’s go with like the one OK Go music video that hasn’t
been shown in class or blogged about already, The Writings on the Wall. This
was the first OK Go music video I ever saw and it remains my favorite. I love
all the optical illusions used in it and the way they are able to line things
up just right so that when you look at it from the right angle, you see words
form on walls and things that appear to be three-dimensional but are actually
just paintings or whatever. It’s crazy to think about the amount of work that
probably had to be put into doing all that. And the fact that the whole video
is done in one shot just adds to that impressiveness.
Next up, Back Then by B Story and Julian Smith. Now many of
you probably know Julian Smith as the guy who does comedy sketches and comedic
music videos, but this video is actually one of the more serious things he’s
done and he does it really well. I love the cinematography and editing in this
video. Despite not having the highest production values, there are some pretty
amazing shots. The action really flows well with the music. Everything just
comes together as good, cohesive whole. Oh, and there’s time travel! That always makes a video better… for me at least.
Blogger is being weird and won't let me put the video in the post, so here's the link:
