Let me talk about video games and violence real quick

The final paper that I am writing got me thinking about this. It is widely accepted that violent video games will increase the level of aggression or violence in a person. Well let me say this, that is a myth. Nothing more. Many people are told this and they believe it on the spot, because to them it makes sense. About 60% of people who are told that video games cause increased aggression and violence in children end up believing that statement. The APA even released a report on this issue. They stated that there was a correlation between violent video games and violent behavior. But the thing is, they took a bunch of research from 2005 to 2013, put it all together, and they saw a correlation between video game violence and violent behavior. But what's funny is that their research was not proof-read. So it was rejected by the community.

Over the past several decades there has been a trend between violence/crimes and the consumption of violent video games. Incredibly, the youth crime rates have been steadily decreasing while video game consumption has been increasing. This statistic, at the bottom, shows conflicting data with the statement.

So you see, all that this is is a myth. There is no actual proof that violent video games cause increased levels of aggression and violence in children. If anything, we can find proof that that statement is completely false. So we shouldn't just take in everything we are told and accept it as truth. It is unfortunate that so many people have been deterred from video games due to this false statement but hopefully, people can finally start accepting the truth.
