Dear Lord, the films from this Tuesday class are just as dark as I remember them being. Of course, that doesn't mean that there isn't a type of beauty to them. My favorite was the short "World of Glory," directed by Roy Andersson. This one portrayed the businessman who worked as a real estate agent who was slowly haunted by those things he witnessed and was apart of during that opening sequence with the truck.
After that, he goes through his life through snapshots, introducing his family, his friends, his car, etc. The scene that stood out to a lot of people was the introduction of his brother, his "only friend;" but I think the scene that hits me most was the shot of him in the hallway, discussing the "man that owes him money." He gets visibly flustered when talking about it, and it was one of the few times we saw real emotion from him besides the last shot with the screaming. I think it shows how the baggage he feels he's carrying around starts to pile up on him, almost signifying a turning point. This was a well crafted short, and I'm interested in the feature that Andersson made as well now.
