2 for 1

So I read Leeper's 31 pages of goodness. For the sake space I have I will focus on the film part because I am a film major. To start off we had watched at least of one of these in class and as I was watching them, I don't think I disliked any of them. So, good for you Leeper! But I think one of my favorites from the four that were shown was the oldest one which was called Please Don't Feed the Animals. What I really liked which was also stated in the paper was the perspective that the little boy sees of his dad and how he is a big wide waisted man and he seems like a tower to the boy. This also goes for the peanut man. I think I can really relate to this because as a child I remember look up to my dad (no so much my mom because she is not much taller than 5'3) like this and seeing him as a tower and he has a long beard and as a child that intimidated me a whole lot. My other thing about this film that I admired was that the little acted like a kid his age with begging for money and feeding it to the animals and stumbling upon the big animals and almost being scared of them.
I also admired the other films so I will give a little input on the rest of them. I thought the brother Thomas one was pretty good. I watch one that had a little commentary from Phil Visher. I agreed with something he said when he talked about how the film has a spiritual meaning but not enough to turn people away from watching it. Also Leeper did not look so happy in his few shots but oh well.
I was not sure how to feel about the Moonboy and Shadow. I did like it but I did not see a meaning in it but I did like the animation. What confused me was the Moon and Sun smiling and then not but when the boy comes out they are smiling again.
I liked the line drawing which was shown during class. I liked how everything flowed together from scene to scene while he was drawing. Also how it starts with the kid entering and picking up the pencil and with him putting it down and then leaving. I liked all the films for different reasons but over all they are all worth watching.
