Last week we watched a documentaries and at one point it was mentioned that many people don't like documentaries much at all. My theory is that this general dislike for documentaries comes from being forced to watch extremely boring ones in their school days. Its interesting to me that people don't like them as i am a huge documentary fan. I spend a fair amount of time watching them, especially short ones from different studios on a wide variety of content. I even worked on my own documentary about the lack of drug education in high school that turned out fairly well. It was supposed to be aired to the school but after speaking with the dean he didn't think it was appropriate because it showed images of drugs at certain points. Anyway I will stop talking about myself now and get back to the point. I feel like documentaries are a great source of education that a lot more people would enjoy if they could find content that they want to learn about. I think that if people could see that documentaries were not just the boring, long, in depth videos used by teachers in public schools then the general attitude towards them would become more positive. if anybody is looking for some good ones to check out i would suggest checking out some of what vice has to offer on youtube. If you end up enjoying them you will most likely be swept into a never ending vortex of videos and come out of it with much more knowledge about things you never knew you cared about. A bit of warning though, vice has a lot of investigative journalism as well as documentaries on some pretty explicit content so be wary if you decide to check them out. I will link one of their documentaries about the "Jesus of Siberia" as i am very curious as to what you all think about it. I encourage you to discuss your thoughts if you do end up watching the video.
